I went to LA for Massive Black Workshop in December and learned a ton. Especially on portfolio/recruitment day. Thanks to Phil Holland, Kemp Remillard, and the Riot Games Splash Art director.
This is what I need and what I'm going to do to fix it.
I need more perspective understanding- "How to Draw" Scott Robertson
I need more anatomy work- "Figure Drawing for all its worth"- Loomis
I need mechanical understanding of costumes/props- Screen shots of well research movies, and books historically accurate to the times.
There has come a point in my life where the fear of not doing art is more terrifying than the fear of failing at art. I will strive on with a madman's fervor, and I will succeed because I will do the work required. I understand my shortcomings, and I have the direction to fix them. I cannot feign naivety, or ignorance. Failure to get what I want is in choosing to ignore my shortcomings. I can do this, I will do this, I want to do this.
